Diary of a Mad Dollmaker

Mimi's Weblog – Let's Talk About Dollmaking

The Elves are Coming, The Elves are Coming

Mimi's Elf - Sparki

For the past few months I have been working on a series of 7” elves.  They have long Elvin ears, little round tummies, short legs and arms and separate fingers, with a new way of wiring them. Their faces are adult faces but their bodies look child-like.

They look cute naked but I am busy dressing a litter of 9 of them.  As I complete them I will show their photos here.

I will be teaching  these new dolls for the first time at a two-day class the weekend of April 17th at the City Quilter in Manhattan.  There is a waiting list of 8 already so I have told the owner I would be happy to do a second class in May, I have the two middle weekends open.  Have not heard yet but if you are interested call the shop (212-807-0390) and ask for Nancy.  The shop is located at 133 W 25th St. (between 6th and 7th). Visit their website at http://cityquilter.com.

Here’s a sequence of Kasi getting her arms attached. They had to be done after the sleeves were put on them in order to fit her top.
